Starfall in the Himalayas - The Geminids at Jilling
As the ethereal glow of November's Beaver Moon and Guru Nanak Jayanti fades into memory, our eyes turn to an even more spectacular celestial event approaching our mountain sanctuary. This December, Jilling Terraces invites you to witness one of nature's most magnificent displays - the Geminids meteor shower - from a perspective 7,000 feet closer to the stars.
Mark your calendars for December 13-14, 2024, when the night sky will come alive with up to 120 meteors per hour. Unlike other meteor showers born from comets, the Geminids originate from an asteroid named 3200 Phaethon, making this celestial dance unique in our cosmic calendar. This year's display promises to be exceptional, with dark skies providing perfect viewing conditions from our Himalayan perch.
A Prime Celestial Theater
At Jilling Terraces, where the air thins and clarity reigns, we've crafted the perfect setting for this celestial spectacle. Picture yourself wrapped in traditional Kumaoni blankets, sipping hot masala chai on your private veranda, as nature's fireworks illuminate the Himalayan night. Our elevation and distance from city lights create an unparalleled viewing experience that turns each shooting star into a moment of wonder.
Perfect Vantage Points
The first-floor Padam and Kafal rooms provide elevated viewing platforms
The expansive verandas of Buransh and Utish suites offer comfortable stargazing spaces
For complete solitude, our Oak and Ringol cottages present private celestial theaters
The main terrace outside the ground floor veranda becomes a communal space where stories and stars intertwine
